Nvidia-backed Cohere launches defense AI accelerator in SG
Cohere, a Toronto-based AI company focused on sovereign AI for regulated industries and governments, launched a defense AI accelerator in Singapore on November 3 to help defense organizations and government customers move AI projects from pilots to deployment in secure environments.
The company said the program will support on-premises, hybrid, and air-gapped deployments. It will also provide testing, integration, and governance support for sensitive systems.
Cohere said the launch is part of its plan to quadruple its Asia Pacific presence by the end of 2027.
The move comes as Singapore’s defense ministry highlighted AI-enabled capabilities and industry collaboration, and as the country’s AI governance approach continues to evolve.
International Data Corporation (IDC) also said sovereignty can be costly for AI deployments, as Asia Pacific enterprises move from experimentation toward enterprise-scale adoption.
