DayOne, Sembcorp partner on data center power supply in Asia
DayOne Data Centers, a Singapore-based data center developer and operator, said on October 29 it signed a memorandum of understanding with Sembcorp Utilities, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries, to explore power and energy options for DayOne projects across Asia.
The companies will evaluate on-site power infrastructure and generation, renewable energy supply, and operations and maintenance services.
The agreement supports DayOne’s plan to secure power earlier in the development process.
DayOne aims to use 100% renewable energy by 2030, where market conditions allow.
It already has renewable energy arrangements in Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand, including a Sembcorp power purchase agreement for its upcoming SG1 data center.
Sembcorp has also explored low-carbon power supply for AI data centers with Nxera.
Singapore has a data center regulatory framework and launched an information technology energy efficiency standard for data centers on August 22, 2025.
Commentary also highlights Asia’s data center power gaps.
