Equinix, a US-based data center operator, opened SG6 in Singapore on November 6 under the city-state’s data center approval process. The new facility is designed to support AI workloads while meeting Singapore’s sustainability requirements.

The company said SG6 involved an initial investment of US$290 million. In its first phase, the site will house about 1,550 cabinets.

Equinix said SG6 includes liquid cooling, solar panels, NEWater, and rainwater harvesting systems. The company also plans to establish a co-innovation facility with the National University of Singapore Energy Solutions Hub, which is due to open in 2027.
