Indian AI lab Soket launches open-source agent tool
Bengaluru-based Soket AI, an AI research lab building models and systems that institutions can run under their own control, said it was selected under the IndiaAI Mission. It launched LOOP on 8 October 2026 as an open-source harness for AI agents that supports developers’ own models and infrastructure.
The company said the developer preview is available on GitHub for Linux, macOS, and Windows. It includes support for model base URLs, session branching and resuming, shared memory across agents, and optional isolation.
In a comparison using eight workers and the same Qwen model through OpenRouter, Soket AI said LOOP used 7.7x less RAM than Anthropic’s Claude Code.
In the same test, the company said LOOP used 17x less local CPU resources. The company said the test measured harness processes only, excluded remote inference, and was not a quality test.
LOOP enters a self-hosted agent market where vendors promote their tools for control over infrastructure, code, and model choice.
