Indian edtech firm PhysicsWallah swings to $15m profit

PhysicsWallah, a Noida-based edtech company, reported 12.4 billion rupees (US$131 million) in operating revenue for Q2 FY27 and profit after tax of 1.4 billion rupees (US$15 million).

The company had posted a 870.4 million rupees (US$9.2 million) loss in Q1 FY27.

Total income reached 13.3 billion rupees (US$141 million).

Online courses contributed 6.9 billion rupees (US$73.3 million) in revenue, while the offline segment added 5.4 billion rupees (US$57.1 million).

The company said it sold subsidiary FinZ Finance Private Limited’s 957.9 million rupees (US$10.1 million) student-loan portfolio to Auxilo Finserve Private Limited on October 3, exiting direct student lending.

FinZ Finance held PhysicsWallah’s student-loan portfolio. The available material does not confirm an ongoing financing partnership with Auxilo.

Separately, Reserve Bank of India-linked model schemes set an education-loan framework, while digital-lending norms have tightened compliance requirements. The sources do not show that regulation prompted the sale.
