Indian Institute of Science venom drug startup raises $2.7m

Venomics AI, a Bengaluru-based biotechnology startup from the Indian Institute of Science, has raised US$2.7 million in a pre-seed round co-led by Speciale Invest and South Park Commons to expand its venom-based drug discovery platform.

Operators Studio also joined the round. Venomics AI said the funding will expand its Venom Atlas dataset, add AI and lab screening capacity, and support hiring across venom biology, computational science, and drug discovery.

Founded by Indian Institute of Science professor Kartik Sunagar and Vinay Prabhu, Venomics AI uses molecular sequencing, AI, and lab testing to identify venom-derived molecules that could be developed into drug candidates.
