Indian, Japanese spacetech startups team up for orbital tech

Japan-based Astroscale has partnered with Indian spacetech startups Digantara and Bellatrix Aerospace to collaborate on orbital technology and services. This marks Astroscale’s first operation in the Asia-Pacific region outside Japan.
The partnership aims to bid for orbital services contracts in India, recognizing the country’s strong space capabilities.
Founded in 2013, Astroscale provides on-orbit servicing solutions, including life extension, space situational awareness, end-of-life management, and debris removal.
Digantara, established in 2018, focuses on space debris detection and plans to invest up to US$15 million in a space optics center in Colorado.
Bellatrix Aerospace, founded in 2015, develops propulsion systems for satellites, offering eco-friendly alternatives to hydrazine.
This collaboration follows a December 2024 partnership between India’s InspeCity and Japan’s Orbital Lasers on space debris removal.
