OpenAI plans to end AI deal with SpaceX-bound Cursor

OpenAI said on August 28 that it plans to end its agreement to provide AI models to Cursor because it was not confident SpaceX would use the technology “within our terms of service.”

Cursor is developed by Anysphere, a US-based maker of AI coding tools that SpaceX has agreed to buy for US$60 billion, rather than being an existing SpaceX business.

The agreement appears to cover access to OpenAI models inside Cursor. Cursor lists OpenAI models alongside models from other providers and supports API keys from multiple vendors.

SpaceX did not immediately respond to a request for comment outside regular business hours.
