Singapore dominates SEA’s $9.3b AI funding
Southeast Asia’s native AI startups raised US$9.3 billion across 261 disclosed equity rounds from 2021 to July 2026, according to an August 5 report by Tracxn, an India-based private market intelligence company.
Singapore accounted for nearly all disclosed funding, with US$9.3 billion across 227 rounds.
Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand together raised less than US$40 million.
The report said annual funding rose from US$869 million in 2024 to US$2 billion in 2025, and reached US$4.1 billion across 23 rounds so far in 2026.
A US$2.8 billion series D round for Kling AI accounted for about 68% of 2026 year-to-date funding.
Tracxn attributed the round to Singapore, although Kling AI was created by Beijing-based Kuaishou and has a Singapore-registered entity incorporated in January 2025.
AI infrastructure was the largest sector, with US$4.3 billion raised, followed by data center infrastructure at US$2.2 billion.
Tracxn said funding in AI infrastructure was led by Kling AI and MiniMax, while Princeton Digital Group raised all four disclosed rounds in data center infrastructure.
