UnionPay, Singapore’s Thunes expand instant China payouts

Singapore-based cross-border payments firm Thunes said on November 2 that it had expanded its partnership with UnionPay International, the overseas arm of China’s UnionPay card network.

The deal will allow financial institutions and money transfer operators to send instant payouts to UnionPay cards in mainland China through a single application programming interface.

The service covers cards issued by 79 banks and supports daily transfers of up to US$10,000 per cardholder.

Thunes said the higher cap could reduce the need for senders to split personal transfers across several days or rely on manual processing.

It named the US and Australia as expansion corridors.

The companies previously announced instant money transfers to mainland China on January 22, 2026.

Visa Direct and UnionPay International also said they would extend money movement to billions of UnionPay cards in mainland China.
