Singapore-based robotics company Hivebotics has raised a US$6 million series A round led by Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India.

The funding will take its restroom-cleaning robot, Abluo, into volume production and expand its distributor network across Asia, Europe, North America, and the Middle East.

The round also included Fareast Land Development, part of Taiwan’s Farglory Group, and Rigel, an Asian manufacturer of smart restroom products.

Hivebotics said the funding will support further development of its HiveIntelligence software.

Abluo has logged nearly 10,000 operating hours in 12 months across more than 20 sites, including hospitals, airport terminals, and shopping malls.

Hivebotics was founded in 2021 out of the National University of Singapore by Rishab Patwari and Nguyen Tuan Dung.

Hivebotics operates in the restroom-cleaning robotics market, which also includes Somatic. Singapore-based facilities services company Primech has also launched a bathroom-cleaning robot.
